About Me
Hi👋, I'm Ann!
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, I moved to London in 2011. My career has always revolved around people, from when I was 14 working in retail and as a high school tutor to my first "professional" job with a recruitment agency as a Resourcer back in 2010.
It wasn't always going to be in this field. As a child, I dreamed of being an Archeologist, digging up humanity's past and figuring out why humans are. I was raised in the '90s when technology was still in its infancy, and I was one of many kids creating Geocities websites and using mIRC, which led me to study Computer Engineering at UNSW. Halfway through that degree, I realised it wasn't for me and finished with a Bachelor of Social Science in Human Resource Management. I came back to People.
It’s honestly fascinating to see how people behave within a tight ecosystem that is a workplace, what motivates them, and how they can make empathetic decisions while still balancing the needs of the business. This fascination led me to complete an MSc in Organisational Psychology.
Through my 12+ years of People experience working in a range of industries: retail, events, hospitality, property, and technology, I've failed, learned, delivered, and succeeded in:
Building Performance Management Systems
Managed complex ER cases from long-term absences, disability, and bullying cases
Rebuilt People functions from policies and processes and coached Management to be better leaders for their People
Multiple M&A, Redundancy, and TUPE projects within the UK and globally
Delivered Compensation Philosophy Frameworks
Procuring and implementing HRIS'
All are driven to suit the business and address the company's priorities.
I'm not about cookie-cutter solutions. I've seen enough to know that one solution doesn't work at every place, that businesses are on their journey of transforming their People's Experiences, and you need to figure out together – what we need to do now and what we can do to minimise People Debt as we move forward.
I'm always open to chatting, so reach out. This could be the start of something great.
